High Cost of Entry for AI Integration

Most companies realize that AI and Machine Learning will improve their business considerably and provide them the edge needed to outdo their competitors. The main problem that is deterring large scale adoption by companies of all sizes is actually the exteremly high costs required to integrate AI into a business at the moment. The high costs involve stem from two main channels: 1) Assembling an AI team; 2) Providing the infrastructure (e.g. hardware) needed to support this AI team.

The former is in particular quite costly, since AI experts are relatively scarce. Such experts, however, are necessary because many processes in Machine Learning & AI such as hyperparameter tuning and model selection require human expertise.

Automated Machine Learning

At Extract AI, we have developed a technology that allows Automated Machine Learning, which implies that human experts are no longer required for the aforementioned Machine Learning Processes. Instead, our platform is smart enough to automatically make decisions that previosuly required human expertise. In order to integrate AI into a business, there is now no longer a need to spend a significant amount on assemblying a team of AI talent. All that is needed is a few simple clicks on our platform, that totally require no prior knowledge in AI or Machine Learning.

In addition, by utilizing our platform, businesses can also leverage on our hardware and infrastructure, hence further reducing the initial investment needed to harness the power of AI.

With Extract AI, the cost of entry to AI integration is now dramatically reduced, allowing more businesses to benefit from the power of AI.

From B2B to B2C

Beyond lowering the entry cost for Machine Learning integration, Extract AI is also focusing on making other facets of AI more accesible to all businesses. In particular, we have a current emphasis on Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing.

Beyond B2B, we are also embarking on an exciting innovation to harness the power of AI with a B2C focus (and believe us, given the amount of data flowing out there these days, AI is useful to a consumer is ways that were previously unimaginable!).

Jervis Ong Zhe Ao, founder and CEO at Extract AI.

Jervis Ong Zhe Ao

Co-Founder

Jervis specializes in methods to automate Machine Learning model selection and hyperparameter tuning. Prior to setting up Extract AI, he was an Angela-Dunn Gardiner scholar at the University of Cambridge, pursuing a MASt in Astrophysics. He is a recipient of both the Ida Freund Prize and the Leo Pincherle Prize, prizes that recognise excellence in the field of Natural Sciences.

Co-Founder

Jit Hui is actively involved in web applications. In particular, he specializes in utilizing the PHP framework to develop back-end architecture components such as the 'Stack'. He is also involved in developing the front-end framework which encompasses the UI/UX. He holds a MEng in Mechatronics from the University of Nottingham. and was a semi-finalist in the Microsoft Imagine Cup at the national level.

Patrick is an entrepreneur and computer engineer, who developed a passion for AI and robotics in NTU. Prior to joining Extract AI, he was a data warehouse engineer specializing in developing business intelligence systems. As part of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and IEEE Robotics & Automation Society, he aims to promote AI to solve global issues such as famine, global warming and poverty.

Charles graduated with an MBA from Harvard University and is a member of the World Economic Forum. He specialises in the privacy and data protection aspect of business management. He was formerly with Arthur Anderson Associates, one of the Big Five accounting firms and was responsible for the overall strategic planning & information management for all MNCs within the entire Asia Pacific region.

AI Research Scientist

Chatura, from the University of Cambridge, is especially interested in Machine Intelligence within the wider field of engineering. One active research area is in understanding machine learning models that are best suited for the design and optimization of semiconductor devices. He is also the proud recipient of the Sir Fredrick Mappin Medal, and was a shortlisted nominee for the prestigious Sir William Siemens Medal.

AI Research Scientist

Jin Hui is mainly involved in utilizing automated machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems such as lowering drug discovery times. Before joining Extract AI, he was a UROP researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and also a MyBrainSc scholar at Imperial College London. He is a recipient of the HVA Briscoe Prize, an award recognising innovation and excellence in Chemistry.

Research

We are looking for an AI Research Scientist as we expand our AI Research Group. The job scope will mainly revolve around conducting R&D on automated machine learning. We welcome applicants from all fields of studies and all nationalities. Applicants should email [email protected] with the title 'Application for AI RESEARCH SCIENTIST (MACHINE LEARNING) position'.

The ideal candidate should have:

- Experience in Python and Java
- The ability to write write clean, well structured code
- Knowledge of basic Machine Learning tools such as TensorFlow and scikit-learn
- An understanding of the Bayesian Optimization concept
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken

The following would be a big plus:

- Experience in Combined Algorithm Selection and Hyperparameter Tuning (CASH)
- Knowledge of the Sequential Model-based Algorithm Configuration (SMAC)
- Knowledge of how the Tree-structured Parzen Estimator (TPE) and bandit methods work

We are looking for an AI Research Scientist as we expand our AI Research Group. The job scope will have a focus on Computer Vision and in particular motion/object detection. - Experience in Python and/or Matlab
- The ability to write write clean, well structured code

The following would be a big plus:

- Experience in applying Machine Learning techniques on Computer Vision problems
- Knowledge of search algortihms such as the four-step search and diamond search

Website & App Development

We are looking for an app developer to design and develop a mobile app for both the Android OS and iOS. The app will have to be compatible with basic accessories such as Bluetooth. We welcome applicants from all fields of studies and all nationalities, and the successful applicant will be allowed to work remotely. The ideal candidate should have:

- Proficiency in Objective C / Java for Android / Swift
- Familiarity with SQL and C#
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
